In the parenthesis should be (4x - 4)

This is because 4 times that value will give you exactly the same equation on both sides making it true for all values of x.

Answer:

1.25

Step-by-step explanation:

16x - 16 = 4

16x = 4 + 16

16x = 20 (divide both sides by 16 to get x)

16x/16 = 20/16

x = 1.25
