The Supreme court case which established the principle of judicial review was Marbury v. Madison.
This case, which was tried in 1803, established the boundaries between judicial and executive branches of the government. The case had to do with the argument between the Secretary of State, James Madison, and the Justice of Peace in the District of Columbia, William Marbury.
