Systems of hardware and software that protect computers and networks from intruders are called firewalls. These are often pre–installed on computers and constantly monitor for suspicious activity and unauthorized access on networks and computers when turned on by the user. They are especially important on network and wireless devices that are always on and susceptible to attacks.
