So let's simplify this.

16 oz = 1 lb. So let's convert your pounds to ounces and start from there.

So for 17 lb, multiply 17 by 16, which is 272 oz. 272 oz + 2 oz = 274 oz.

For 6 lb, multiply 6 by 16, which is 96 oz. 96 oz + 4 oz = 100 oz.

Now subtract. 274 oz - 100 oz = 174 oz.

Now it's time to convert back to pounds! So 174 oz divided by 16 is 10 lb 14 oz!
