I think the media portrays sports personalities ie those involved in spectator sports like the NHL hockey or World Cup soccer in a glorified way that they are somehow larger than life and that their best players are super stars who lead glamorous lives. . The media also likes to interview the sports personalities and have them discuss their strategy and tactics in their games or fights.
