Here's the equation: (2*2.5) + (2*x) = 13.25 Multiply 2*2.5. It's 5. Then multiply 2*x. Its 2x. Then rewrite the equation to : 5+2x=13.25. You want x by itself on it's side. You don't want the 5 and the 2 on the x's side. So you subtract 5 on both sides to get rid of 5. You then get 2x=8.25. Then you divide 2 on both sides to get rid of 2. So that means x equals 4.125. or 4 and one eighth
