 f = 43/5 = 8.600 ....................

If f(x) = -5, you gotta assume that f = -5 and x = 1 like in any equation
So if f(x) = -5, then f(8.6) should be -5(8.6) by distributive property
-5(8.6) = -43
The answer is -43 OR f(8.6) = -43
