Try cutting the shape into 2 different shapes. A square and a triangle. The area of the square is LxW so 10x7. The area of the square is 70. The area of a triangle is 1/2xBxH so 1/2x8x4. The area of the triangle is 16. Now, you put the areas together and get area of the shape. The area of the shape is 86.
