Answer:

Texas originally became it's own country by seceding. It is no longer this way. If they wanted to do this again, Texas can be their own country (secede from the United States) but they'll probably won't anytime soon. There's a whole process for a state to secede and they have to make sure it's truly in the best interest of the residents of Texas and not some political stunt.
