They are antiparallel because one strand of 3' faces the end of 5' of another strand and 5' end of one strand faces 3' end of another strand. Which indicate that 5 phosphate group faces the end of 3 hydroxyl group and they are of opposite directions to each other because it has opposite polarity with each other .
