The Aztecs were a Mesoamerican culture that thrived in central Mexico within the post-classic period from 1300 to 1521. The Aztec people groups included diverse ethnic bunches of central Mexico, especially those groups who spoke the Nahuatl language and who ruled huge parts of Mesoamerica from the 14th to the 16th centuries. Aztec culture was organized into city-states, some of which joined to create organizations together, political confederations, or realms. They impacted the nourishment and gastronomy. The Aztecs domesticated crops and raised animals such as the "Mexican hairless" canine and the turkey fowl. They also included in their menu, items such as tortillas, pozole, cocoa and tamales etc.
