Why did the Algonquians usually build camps near waterways

Since there were bobcats at the time, and traveling through the woods was hard, water was their transportation. This is why they built canoes to move on rivers and other waterways. Water was also a source of food and items for trade, such as seashells for trading. Water was prosperity. Hope this helped!
