On February 2nd, 2014, JK Rowling mentioned in an interview that she regretted pairing Hermione and Ron together. She believed Hermione and Harry would've been a more realistic couple.

J.K. Rowling seems to be grappling with regret over some of the characters she killed off in her “Harry Potter” series. For the past two years on May 2, Rowling has apologized for the deaths of one half of the Weasley twins Fred and Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Remus Lupin.
