1 reason is that sometimes when we are cycling, we are farther from the sun that others and thats why we have winter. 2.) The earth has to move through the heating and cooling periods for us to survive.3.) If the earth didnt move then the earth would lose its magnetic field all the  poles would form together and create a supercontitnet and we would all die.  This is different from the climate change we are expericing because we have no contol over the sun. But us driving cars and throwing our trash in landfills we can control. This is why the earth is heating up not because of the heating and cooling periods
