1. Make sure you fully understand the meaning of the passage
2. Write down notes of key concepts
3. Write your version of the text using your notes not the original passage
4. Compare the passages and make minor adjustments to phrases that sound too similar
To double check you can always run your version of the passage through a plagiarism checker! I use grammarly
