[tex](-1)^{n+1}+(-1)^{n-1}=(-1)^n\cdot(-1)^1+(-1)^n\cdot(-1)^{-1}\\\\=(-1)^n\cdot(-1)+(-1)^n\cdot(-1)=-(-1)^n+[-(-1)^n]\\\\=\boxed{-2(-1)^n}[/tex]
