According to the question:  

4 times of x will be 4x  

  1. 5 less of the square of that number will be x² -5

Therefore,

4x = x² – 5  

Make this equation in the form of a quadratic equation

x² - 4x -5 = 0    

(x - 5) (x + 1) = 0,    

 The value of x = 5, and x = -1  

The negative value of x of two solutions is -1.
