y = x^3 + x^2 - 4x + 2

y' = 3x^2 + 2x - 4

This equates to zero when the function is at a minimum/ maximum,

Solving 3x^2  + 2x - 3 gives x = -1.54, 0.87.

The second derivative is 6x + 2  which gives a negative for x = -1.54 ( Maximum) and positive  x = 0.87 (minium).
