William Faulkner regarded new literature with a general disdain. He believed that it was not written with true emotion. In his Nobel Prize acceptance speech, he states, "His griefs grieve on no universal bones, leaving no scars. He writes not of the heart but of the glands." These statements further solidify how Faulkner feels about new literature. He did not believe it made any real impact at all. Hope this helps.
