Explanation:

The flame test is a qualitative test used in chemistry to help determine the identity of a metal ion found in an ionic compound.

In the flame test,we dip the salt of corresponding ion with hydrochloric acid,rinse in distilled water an then brought near the flame.

All salts of sodium give a golden yellow flame.

All salts of Potassium give a lilac coloured flame.
