A hook would be something you would see on a newspaper. Something that would catch your eye. Something dramatic. Think as though you are writing a letter to someone while you were in middle school. eff off doesn't exactly work but saying something like "Lying Fiends" will catch anyone's eyes. Just be extra dramatic.
