Weathering refers to the gradual disintegration of a rock. This is brought about by weathering agents. These weathering agents may be physical or chemical agents. Any rock surface exposed to the earth's surface will eventually weather. Weathering of rocks leads to soil formation. Physical agents of weathering include wind which could tear rock pieces apart forming soil in the process.
