You must first combine like terms. This means that you combine values that have the same variable. In this case 2x and 3x are like terms.
To get 2x on the same side of 3x you must subtract 2x to both sides like so...
2x - 2x - 2 = 3x - 2x
0 - 2 = x
-2 = x
