The width of a rectangle is 8 inches less than the length. The area is 153 square inches. Find the length and width of the rectangle.

A = W*L
W = L-8
A = (L(L-8))
153 = L^2-8L
L^2-8L-153=0
Factoring: (L-17)(L+9)=0
Thus the L = 17, and W = 9.
