The parallel lines have the same slope.

The formula of a slope:

[tex]m=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex]

We have the points (2, 5) and (6, -11).

Substitute:

[tex]m=\dfrac{-11-5}{6-2}=\dfrac{-16}{4}=-4[/tex]
