Simplify and solve this equation for q: 3q + 5 + 2q – 5 = 65.

3q + 5 + 2q - 5 = 65     combine like terms

(3q + 2q) + (5 - 5) = 65

5q + 0 = 65

5q = 65     divide both sides by 5

q = 13

Answer: C. q = 13
