What is the rate of change of a linear function that includes the points (5, 2) and (9, 4)?

The rate of change for this function is 1/2.

In order to find the rate of change, you use the slope equation.

m (slope) = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (4 - 2)/(9 - 5)

m = 2/4

m = 1/2
