You multiply them just as you would multiply any normal polynomials, except there is a special rule. Since we know that i = √-1, the rule is that i² = -1. So, let's multiply:

[tex](9-4i)(8+6i) = 72+54i-32i-24i^2[/tex]

Let's simplify this:

[tex]72+22i+(-24*-1)[/tex]

[tex]72+22i+24 = 96+22i[/tex]

Therefore, your answer is 96 + 22i.
