Generally, classical conditioning is involuntary; operant conditioning is voluntary. Classical conditioning denotes the way new responses are learned. Operant conditioning is learning through voluntary behavior and its subsequent consequences. It shows that reinforcement increases behavioral tendencies, whereas punishment decreases them.
