A certain level of hypocrisy is necessary in any
party-political system, and particularly necessary for governments of all
stripes. Parties and especially governments oblige their members to be publicly
loyal to party ideologies and leaders that they might not hold in high regard
or have faith in. This hypocrisy is needed for the party to win and for the
implementation of policies.
