Glucagon is a peptide hormone, produced by the pancreas which increases the concentration of glucose in the bloodstream. It is released when the glucose levels are low and it :
·     stimulates the liver to break down glycogen to glucose
·     activaties gluconeogenesis (the conversion of amino acids into glucose).
