After the lottery is finished, what do the villagers do?

Referring to the "the Lottery" by Shirley Jackson

The answer is:  They eat lunch and go back to work as if nothing happened.

It's a horror story about a small village that choose one of the families that live in it as subject of murder through a lottery (as method to purge their primal instinct )  After they murder their target, they simply act like nothing has happened.
