What is the slope of a line perpendicular to the line whose equation is 5x+3y=8

Put the equation into slope intercept form so you can find the slope.
5x+3y=8
3y=-5x+8
y=-5/3x+8/3
The slope of this line is -5/3. 
The slope of the line perpendicular to it is the negative reciprocal, which is:
slope= 3/5
